RIM To Launch Music Streaming Service
Soon we will have a new player in the Music Streaming Services industry. The BlackBerry maker Research In Motion, is close to launching its own streaming music service that will operate in all their mobile devices, according to four people familiar with the company’s plans.
The new service is probably part of an attempt to improve the RIM BlackBerry Messenger service, as it competes with strong platforms rivals like Apple and Google’s Android.
RIM is in final negotiations with major record labels, including Universal Music, Vivendi, Sony Music, Sony, Warner Bros Music and EMI.
The launch of the new service to be announced on September 5, Labor Day in the United States. A RIM spokeswoman declined to comment on the report but said the BlackBerry Messenger is one of the largest mobile social networks in the world. RIM has improved the supply of the BlackBerry Messenger, popularly known as BBM, since announcing its “social platform” in September last year when it unveiled the tablet Playbook. The Playbook comes with music stores
7Digital. The store includes about 13 million tracks, and purchases made by the Playbook can be transferred to other devices. The BlackBerry smartphone does not offer an official way to purchase music from RIM.
