The tablet, a.k.a. iPad, effect is real

The tablet, a.k.a. iPad, effect is real

Fruit made news this week with the discharge of definite arrangements and renderings for its newfangled “spaceship” central station. The subtext of that story? Hewlett-Packard long ago claimed the property. That conservation wasn’t enough, nor was their webOS hurl of the bones, and now the alternate shoe has dropped.
The sky IS falling, specifically. Huffington Post reports that Hewlett-Packard has declared that they will close down their webOS operations—done, completed. This is from launch to pressing flush in a few months and its worth specifying that HP acquired webOS inventor Palm about 16 months in the past.
“There is a clear development in the shopper PC space,” declared HP CEO Leo Apotheker. “The tablet impact is genuine.”
This mea culpa goes ahead the heels of news that Best Buy appropriated 275,000 TouchPads, but just figured out how to offer 25,000 of those. Evidently, slicing the inquiring by 20 percent has not impelled any development on that front.
Best equipped Buy would like to give back where its due offset and HP is stating they’ve situated aside $100 million for that reason—stunning.
What a strategy to party about—they would like to offer their PC business, besides—the marriage celebration of HP's August 18, 1947 joining.
Well, from expiration brand new existence springs. Extended exist the iPad, extended exist Apple…

Smartphones to run operators into the red in 3 years

http://cdn.physorg.com/newman/gfx/news/operatorsare.jpg
Rocketing smartphone use could drive mobile operators into losses in three years unless they rapidly adopt technology to capture more revenue from data services, according to a US network company.
Rising investment costs to handle exploding data traffic combined with lower revenue per unit of data could begin to drive some operators into the red in as soon as two years, Tellabs said it calculated based on independent analyst data.
"Carriers can spend themselves bankrupt well before users run out of hunger for capacity," said Tellabs chief executive Rob Pullen.
"Our study shows that simply adding dumb capacity is unsustainable. To avoid the 'end of profit', carriers must bring intelligence to their networks -- it is critical to carrier survival," he was quoted as saying in a statement.
A number of industry players expect mobile data traffic, driven mostly by smartphones, to nearly double each year for the next several years.
While operators are investing heavily to add capacity and roll out fourth-generation networks, they are having difficulty earning money from data transfer and forecasts see falling revenue per unit of data transferred if current trends continue.
Dozens of companies such as Tellabs are offering mobile operators solutions to manage network traffic, reducing needed investments and opening possibilities to capture more revenue through priority services.
"Mobile carriers face a stark choice about their business models: it's either the smart mobile Internet or an unsustainable dumb-pipe business," said Vikram Saksena, Tellabs' chief technology officer.
Tellabs' findings come days before the mobile industry holds its annual gathering in Barcelona, where a smartphone-driven boom in data traffic overwhelming networks and capturing revenue from data are set to be at the top of the agenda.
Tellabs did not analyse specific mobile operators, but used a model that generalised costs and revenue structures in three major regional markets.
It found that operators in North America were most vulnerable to changes wrought by mobile Internet and that some could plunge into unprofitability as soon as the beginning of 2013, others at the end of that year based on median cost and revenue assumptions.
For developed Asia-Pacific markets, operators would enter the red from the third quarter of 2013 to the third quarter of 2014.
Western European operators are forecast to enter unprofitablity from the beginning of 2014 or 2015.

Samsung Claims 10 Million Galaxy S Phones Sold

http://www.maximumpc.com/files/u69/galaxy_s_phones.jpg
Samsung Electronics said that Galaxy S, the company's showpiece Android-based smartphone, has crossed the 10 million-sold threshold seven months after it launched. The milestone puts Samsung among the vanguard manufacturers backing Google's white-hot Android platform, which is itself now the No 2 mobile OS in the world behind Symbian, according to analysts.

http://news.brothersoft.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Samsung-Galaxy-S-Sales-Pass-10-Million-in-7-Months.jpg
According to Samsung, 4 million Galaxy S units have been sold in North America, with 2.5 million sold in Europe and 2 million sold in Asia.

"The Galaxy S is the result of our 22-year heritage in the mobile industry," said JK Shin, President and Head, Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics, in a statement. "It is the realization of our concept of 'the Smart Life'— we wanted to make users' lives more convenient, more exciting and more integrated. Today's milestone shows that we have succeeded: 10 million Galaxy S users around the world are living the Smart Life."

Shin added that Samsung is selling more than 1.4 million Galaxy S devices per month.

Galaxy S was first introduced by Samsung at CTIA Las Vegas in March 2010, and strong word-of-mouth, solid reviews and customer embrace of Android devices propelled it to a spot among the coolest smartphones of 2010.

Galaxy S was released on all four of the major U.S. carriers last year, under different names, such as Sprint's Epic 4G and Verizon's Fascinate. Though each version has slightly different features, each includes a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen and a 1Ghz processor, 5MP camera, 2GB of storage and support for Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi.

Samsung's strength with the Android platform should come into sharper focus in 2011, as its Samsung Galaxy Tab—an Android-based rival to Apple's mighty iPad—looks to gain traction among tablet customers. Samsung has not released initial sales figures for the Galaxy Tab, which launched in November.

Samsung hit a pretty big milestone, announcing that it has sold 10 million Android OS Galaxy S smartphones since its launch in June 2010. That equals to about one device sold every two seconds.
According to Samsung, North America leads the Galaxy S sales chart with 4 million sales, followed by Europe at 2.5 million and Asia with 2 million sales.
"The Galaxy S is the result of our 22 year heritage in the mobile industry. It is the realization of our concept of 'the Smart Life' - we wanted to makes users' lives more convenient, more exciting, and more integrated", said JK Shin, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung. Today's milestone shows that we have succeeded: 10 million Galaxy S users around the world are living the Smart Life."

If you have Jailbroken your iPhone or iPod touch and use jailbreak apps then you would know that most of the times jailbreak apps have something special in them. And one of the latest jailbreak app is Voice Activator by Chpwn. It is an app which enables you to give command to your iOS device with your voice.

to let you take full control of the Voice Control feature of your iPhone or iPod touch. Launch apps, open URLs, use Activator actions: it’s all here, in one tweak.

This app is certainly magical as it allows you to control your device with your voice commands just like in the good old movie scenes and definitely it would be useful for you while you don’t want to touch your iPhone for whatever reason.
Isn’t it too bad that devices running on the Android OS can enjoy voice based commands on the entire operating system? The voice search tool for the Android OS can literally search anything on the web, your phone, call contacts, give commands and complete a lot of other operations. The Apple iOS lacked this feature, although there is a voice command feature for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, these can’t be used for a complete OS search or carrying out other functions such as starting applications and speak to enter text.
The wait is over, thanks to the developer chpwn, the app that can bring Android like voice enabled functions to the iOS has finally arrived. It’s known as the VoiceActivator and can be downloaded from the BigBoss repository via Cydia for $4.99. And yeah, this is an app for the jailbroken iPhone and iPod Touch, so you’ll have to Jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch to make use of this app. There’s a video after the break demonstrating how this app works.

This app would be soon available as Cydia.Check out the demo of this app in the video below.

Next Generation iPad (Slimmer, Anti-Reflective, 1.2GHz Dual Core CPU)

http://www.technologynews123.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Dont-count-out-the-iPad-competitors-latest-technology-news-technology-news-latest-it-news-computer-technology-latest-gadgets-ipad.jpg
From past few months many speculations are made about the new features in the next iPad and today another analyst made its prediction about iPad 2.Analyst from Concord claims that iPad 2 will not have a higher resolution display or Retina display as many people are hoping that it would get retina display just like the other iPhone 4 and 4th generation iPad.

http://artoftheiphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Casemate-Pop-for-iPhone-4-inside-lining.jpg

The report claims that although iPad 2 will not have a higher resolution display but Apple is focusing on the thickness of the device and also they have worked a lot on it anti-reflection.
The screen of the next iPad is expected to be 30 to 35 percent thinner that of the current version and because of the better anti-reflection it would be better visible in sunlight comparing to first iPad and also this feature is to compete against the e-reader devices like Kindle.

This report also have mentioned that next iPad will have Cortex A9 dual Core processor which a clock speed of 1.2GHz.Its RAM would be of 512MB which is quite enough  for the device like iPad.It is also expected that the cameras in iPad would be of low quality like current iPod touch.

Steve Wozniak White iPhone 4 (Releasing Soon)

 http://images.macrumors.com/article/2011/01/31/132255-white_iphone_4_dock.jpg
If you remember the launch of the iPhone 4 , Apple was initially supposed to launch white iPhone 4 soon after the black version. But things got little bit trickier for Apple regarding the issues of white iPhone 4 as it was having problem with its production and about some months ago Apple had announced that there would be no iPhone 4 launch.
http://ismashphone.typepad.com/.a/6a00e55225079e88340147e228cda7970b-800wi

And now Apple co-founder Steve Wazniak who appeared in the Endaget show last night said that White iPhone 4 was delayed due to issues with its paint leak which was affecting the camera of iPhone 4.SO , he mentioned that these issues are now almost solved by the Apple engineers and soon Apple would announce the releasing date of White iPhone 4.
There are chances that this rumor could be not true as Steve Wazniak is currently not officially involved in any work of Apple. On the other side he is well-known for his statement about the Apple and most of the time his statement prove to be true.
Another thing about the White iPhone is , its launch is delayed for about half year so if it is launched in the coming future so what would Apple do about the launch of next iPhone.
